Six Useful Library Services

1. We provide access to a range of electronic healthcare resources including electronic journalsdatabases and electronic books. To access all electronic journals and databases from within the hospital or at home, Make sure you've registered for an OpenAthens account.

2. We offer a range of information skills training sessions including:

  • Using our online catalogue
  • Using the NICE Evidence and Healthcare databases
  • Using the Cochrane Library of Systematic Reviews
  • Using the TRIP database
All training is flexible and can be tailored to your needs. we can arrange group or individual sessions either in your workplace or in the library. To book a session email northmid.library@nhs.net or call us on 020 8887 2223 (ext. 2223 from within the Trust).

3. We can run literature searches on your behalf if you need help in finding references to support your work, research or study. Use our clinical enquiry form to submit your request, or email northmid.library@nhs.net or call us on 020 8887 2223 (ext. 2223 from within the Trust).

4. You can request articles or books that are not held in our collection. Use this link to request a journal article, or use this link to request a book. Please note that charges may apply to these requests, which are clarified on the online request forms.

5. Sign up for current awareness alerts using our KnowledgeShare service. (Please note library membership and an OpenAthens account are required for KnowledgeShare.)

6. Sign up for access to DynaMed Plus, a point of care tool, accessible anywhere anytime, and which comes with a free app. You can also sign up for Medhand, which provides clinical references at the point of care via mobile platforms.
