BestBETs - Best Evidence Topics for emergency medicine.

BMJ Best Practice - Combines, in a single source, the latest research evidence, guidelines and expert opinion – presented in a step-by-step approach, covering prevention, diagnosis, treatment and prognosis.

BMJ Clinical Evidence - Online directory of evidence on the effects of clinical interventions.

Clinical Knowledge Summaries (CKS) - Clinical Knowledge Summaries  are produced by NICE. They provides primary care practitioners with a readily accessible summary of the current evidence base and practical guidance on best practice in respect of over 330 common and/or significant primary care presentations.

The service is regularly upgraded as and when significant new evidence emerges. NICE have commissioned a number of Powerpoint slides based on a range of existing CKS topics, to provide a brief snap-shot of the CKS topic, and to be used as an educational tool. Cochrane Child Health - Supports the production of clinically relevant, methodologically rigorous systematic reviews in child health, along with the dissemination and utilisation of evidence in decision-making affecting the health and well-being of children around the world.

Cochrane Handbook for Systematic Reviews of Interventions - Online version of the Cochrane Handbook.

Cochrane Library - The Cochrane Library is made freely available in England via NHS Evidence

Cochrane Project - Web pages for the Cochrane Collaboration, an international network of institutions and individuals dedicated to preparing, maintaining and disseminating systematic reviews of the effects of health care.Controlled Trials from History (James Lind Library) - This website has been created by the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh to present the work of researchers who pioneered the application of research methods designed to reduce biases in studies assessing the effects of health care, social care and education.

Critical Appraisal - Guidance on resources for critical appraisal.

Critical Appraisal Skills Programme (CASP) - Aims to enable decision makers and those who seek to influence them acquire skills to make sense of and act on the evidence.

EPIQ - Effective Practice, Informatics & Quality Improvement supports effective evidence based practice, health informatics and quality improvement initiatives in the health and disability support sectors.

Evidence Based Child Health - A Cochrane Review Journal making child health evidence easier to find, interpret and use. Note: only some articles from this title are freely available in full-text.

NICE Evidence - This site enables access to authoritative clinical and non-clinical evidence and best practice through a web-based portal. It can be used to search for UK guidelines.

NICE Guidance: Evidence into Practice - An e-learning resource for the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence.

Pediatric Clinics Amsterdam (PCA) - Contains interesting case reports from patients referred to University Hospitals in Amsterdam. Vol. 12 No.1 is a special issue on evidence-based paediatrics.

PEDro Physiotherapy Evidence Database - EBM resources for physiotherapy.

PRODIGY (formerly Clinical Knowledge Summaries) - A reliable source of evidence-based information and practical 'know how' about the common conditions managed in primary care.

Search Filters - This page includes evidence based filters for use with Ovid Medline and Cinahl, from the University of York. It also includes links to other useful EBM resources.

SUMSearch - SUMSearch is a meta-search engine that simultaneously searches high-quality internet-based databases like PubMed, DARE (Database of Abstracts of Reviews of Effectiveness), the National Guideline Clearinghouse.

TRIP (Turning Research Into Practice) - The TRIP database brings together evidence based healthcare resources available on the internet. It allows you to cross-search over 29.000 links from around 150 freely available online resources. These contain high-quality evidence-based health information from around the world.

Resources searchable via TRIP include The Cochrane Library, PubMed Clinical Queries, Clinical Evidence, BestBETs and journals such as Evidence-Based Medicine and Bandolier. The database also includes eTextbooks and is update monthly. TRIP is freely available, but to access the premium version you need to be on a Trust computer since access is identified by IP address.
